Not terrible all in all - the rooms were nice, and the view/ location is undoubtedly fantastic.
The food was generally good, but I think on the food front it was let down by disorganisation and poor communication which led to seeming poor service. Customer service was overall quite underwhelming and while people were friendly it was all quite transactional (for all but a few of the staff, some of whom were genuinely great).
I would recommend the hotel and tentatively its attached pub but would also say that Ross has many other better food options as this is more middle of the road than anything else.
Probably 3/5 for the food offering and 4/5 for the hotel offering.

Food was mediocre and typical of food from a chain rather than an experienced chef, which is the least than can be expected from a hotel, creating his/her own dishes from locally sourced produce.

Ordered steak pie at £14.50 only 2 pieces of meat.Have found this at various Greene king locations over last 12 months.Used to be full of meat.poor value.no longer award winning

Checkin was easy and staff very friendly, food decent quality, again staff in the bar and restaurant areas all nice and friendly and helpful, bedrooms were clean and tidy, could have done with no more than a towel rail in shower room as one of the coldest nights of the year during our stay, nice choice for breakfast

Visited for dinner with friends. We all had different meals. All meals were well cooked and delivered quickly and hot. As usual the staff were friendly and efficient.
They were very busy but the staff kept up and were fine.
We visit often and we are happy to recommend the Royal to anyone.

No way to tip toe around this but I did see one of the owners was walking around during service with her bare feet out. Walking through the bar, dining area, host and kitchen. Not the best sight.
Rest of the stay including food and drink were great, especially given the staff must have been very busy through Christmas and NY.

Thank you so much to Carol who was exceptional in her service looking after us for our annual Welsh Christmas gathering. We had a table of 14 and she was wonderful especially with those of us who had allergies. The food was lovely too and great portions!

We stayed over Christmas 23 to 27, all the staff were extremely accommodating, it felt like home from home. A very big thank you to all the staff on Christmas day who went the extra mile to make it very special for us.

Traditional coaching Inn, on a hill in the centre of Ross, overlooking the River Wye.
Rooms are furnished in a traditional style and are clean and spacious.
Breakfast is served in the restaurant and was very tasty and well presented, with a choice of continental, full English breakfast or a variety of other options available.
